Engagement Starts With Asking, states Chris Brogan this morning after a nearly 10% activity rate on a recent survey in his email newsletter. I have to say, that’s well above the expected return (he seems like a happy camper).
When you’re getting started with anything, new blog, new business, new Twitter account, you have two rules (as elaborated in the last post): Content, content, content; and engagement, engagement, engagement. Getting that conversation rolling is your job; don’t go imagining that people will just leap out and offer to be your BFF.
Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to ask the next ten interesting people you encounter on the web a question that’s worth asking and answering. Do it in comments, do it via Twitter, whatever, but begin to speak with people on the web as if they were people.
I’ll report my results later this week. Cheers!
